The Safari Technology Preview update can be provided to any user who downloads the browser through the software update mechanism in the system preferences. The new Safari technology preview update is available for macOS Big Sur and macOS Monterey, the latter being the latest version of the Mac operating system to be released this fall.
Other updates include WebGL 2 and new HTML, CSS, and JavaScript features. There is also quick note support for adding links and Safari highlighting to remember important information and ideas. The live text allows users to select and interact with text in pictures on the web but requires macOS Monterey beta and M1 Mac support. There is a new streamlined tab bar, which supports tab groups to organize tabs, and at the same time improved support for Safari Web extensions.
The current Safari technology preview is based on the Safari 15 update included in macOS Monterey, so it includes several Safari 15 features. Safari Technology Preview 133 includes bug fixes and performance improvements for CSS, CSS Cascade Layers, CSS font loading API, Accessibility, JavaScript, Web API, WebRTC, Media, WebGL, and Web and App extensions. Apple designed the Safari Technology Preview to test features that may be introduced into future releases of Safari. Apple first launched an experimental browser in March 2016. According to the latest report, Apple today released update 133 of the Safari Technology Preview.
